New case of COVID-19 detected – 4 November 2020

A new case of COVID-19 has been detected in the Isle of Man. The individual was already self-isolating for 14 days having recently returned to the Island after attending a medical appointment in the UK.

The case was detected through a screening test on admission to Noble’s Hospital for a separate, unrelated condition.  Appropriate safeguards are in place at the hospital to protect care professionals, patients and visitors, including enhanced personal protective equipment and patients with COVID-19 being cared for on a separate ward.  If the patient is discharged within their period of self-isolation, they will continue to isolate at home.

The period of isolation has been extended by a further 14 days and this includes any other members of the household.

Contact tracing has been completed.

The current number of active cases of COVID-19 in the Isle of Man is nine.
