I was recently asked “ Do I need a website on the Isle of Man (IOM)” Well it is a good question and one I bet almost every business on the Isle of Man asks itself. Well we design and build websites but that is for clients who actually want a site.

I am always hesitant when having a conversation about websites and business not to place myself in a position where I am mentioning all the positive points about websites or worse defending the internet.

Here are a few points to ponder: 

 Ok so it is official there are more people from the mainland living on the island then there are Manx people – So even if you have been around for decades trading on the island everyone might not have heard of you. Those same people might use the internet to search for the business / service they need and if you don’t have a good well placed website you are not going to get their custom!

There is and has been a big push by the DTI to get businesses online and trading online. Well I am sure that this will have a nock on effect and also encourage island people to use the internet for local needs.  

Now let me ask you a question  – What will happen to the internet in the next 10 years?

a)      Disappear

b)      Stay as it is

c)       Increase dramatically in popularity and use.

If I was a betting man which I am not my money would be on c –  after all we certainly live in a world of ease and convenience.
