The Ard-Shirveishagh (Chief Minister) Hon Chris Thomas MHK has announced the composition of the Council of Ministers.

The new ministers received their warrants of appointment from the Lieutenant Governor, His Excellency Lieutenant General Sir John Lorimer, at a ceremony at Government House earlier today.

The Council of Ministers is as follows:

  • Hon Chris Thomas MHK – Ard-Shirveishagh and Minister for the Cabinet Office
  • Hon Robert Cowell MHK – Minister for Enterprise
  • Hon Sarah Maltby MHK – Minister for Education, Sport and Culture
  • Hon Dr Rachel Glover MHK – Minister for Environment, Food and Agriculture
  • Hon Claire Christian MHK – Minister for Health and Social Care
  • Hon Jason Moorhouse MHK – Minister for Infrastructure
  • Hon Jane Poole-Wilson MHK – Minister for Justice and Home Affairs
  • Hon Michael Crowe MHK – Minister for the Treasury

The Ard-Shirveishagh said:

‘I am pleased to have formed a team that will work together to get things done and deliver for the people of the Isle of Man.  We must act to address the issues that matter to the public and ensure our Island is a place ‘where you can’.

‘I look forward to engaging with all Members of Tynwald and working collaboratively to deliver change, tackle the challenges before us and make the most of the opportunities ahead. My priority this week, following discussions with many Members, has been to appoint ministers for the main Government departments with a breadth of experience and backgrounds.  As the priorities of the new administration become clearer, there is still scope to support the Council of Ministers with further appointments.’

The Ard-Shirveishagh is this morning chairing his first meeting of the new Council of Ministers.

Departmental memberships and appointments to statutory boards and other public bodies will be announced at a later date.
