Applications invited to join the Independent Monitoring Board

Applications are being invited from community-spirited individuals who may wish to join the Independent Monitoring Board (IMB).

The Isle of Man Government is committed to ensuring that where people are detained under law, they are treated fairly, decently and justly.

The IMB performs a vital function through independently monitoring the performance of the Isle of Man’s custodial establishments and providing an overview of the operation of the prison, police holding cells and court custody facilities.

This voluntary role will include interactions with both detainees and staff, and requires a commitment of 15 to 20 hours a month.

The successful applicant will be good with people and be free from prejudice, and able to approach situations with an open mind.

No formal qualifications are required but all candidates must be familiar with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Excel, and have their own transport and a mobile phone.

An application pack and more information can be found on the Department of Home Affairs section of the Isle of Man Government website at gov.im/dha
