Nominations opened this month (1 September) for the 2027 King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS), the highest honour bestowed upon volunteer groups across the British Isles. The award recognises exceptional contributions made by volunteers to their local communities and is regarded as the group equivalent of an MBE.
The nomination period runs from 1 September to 1 December 2026. Eligible groups selected for the award will be announced in November 2027.
Government House is encouraging residents of the Isle of Man to consider nominating local voluntary organisations whose work has had a meaningful impact.
His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor said:
‘The strength of our communities is often reflected in the people who give their time to help others, without seeking recognition for what they do. Across the Isle of Man, voluntary groups make a vital contribution in many different ways, and the King’s Award for Voluntary Service provides an opportunity to shine a light on that work and the people behind it.
‘I would encourage anyone who knows of a group whose volunteers make an exceptional contribution to their community to consider putting them forward for this special recognition.’
