Applications for Isle of Man variant British passports can soon be submitted online.
The new service will be accessed through the Isle of Man Government website and support will be available to help applicants through the process.
While the launch date is still to be confirmed, it is expected to be introduced next winter, 2026/27.
Improving convenience for customers is the main focus of the change with the online service becoming the standard route for passport applications. Paper forms will continue to be available for people unable to access the Isle of Man Government website.
How it will work
A webpage at the Isle of Man Government website Passports page will link through to an established system run by His Majesty’s Passport Office (HMPO) to an area specifically for Isle of Man variant British passport applications.
HMPO is the UK Government organisation responsible for issuing British passports and handles around 7 million applications each year.
The move will mark the completion of a project to introduce online passport applications across all three Crown Dependencies, with Guernsey and Jersey launching the new system at the same time as the Isle of Man.
Price of a passport
An online application will be £102 — cheaper than the current £115.50 price, which includes postal costs.
Why the change is being made
The move to online applications supports the drive to modernise Government services and provide greater convenience for customers.
Online applications are already widely used for British passports and provide a more streamlined way for applicants to enter their information, upload or provide a digital photograph, and submit an application.

The Isle of Man Passport Office recognises that the introduction of the new service represents a significant change and may present a challenge for some customers.
Detailed guidance and an overview of the changes will be published over the coming months to help people prepare for the transition.
Following launch, assistance will be available at dedicated public workspaces within the Isle of Man Passport Office in Douglas.
Paper forms will continue to be available for people unable to access the Isle of Man Government website.
If you do not need to renew your passport soon, there is no need to take any action. However, if your passport is approaching expiry, you should plan your application in good time due to the withdrawal of the 5-day Express service at the point the online service goes live.
