Flap gate project will lead to closure of Douglas inner harbour and marina

Major works will take place on the flap gate to Douglas inner harbour and marina next month.

The project is part of planned maintenance work on the flap gate, which has been retaining water in the marina for the last 20 years.

Work is scheduled to take place between 5 and 28 of October, but remains weather-dependent. During this time the inner harbour and marina will be closed to all vessel traffic, and appropriate arrangements are being made for those who will be affected.

The work itself will involve the creation of a coffer dam to allow the removal of the flap gate, which will then be overhauled. The opportunity will be also taken to inspect the surrounding infrastructure and make any necessary repairs.

Anyone wishing to find out more about the project should call Mark Kenyon, Director of Harbours, on 685184 or email mark.kenyon@gov.im
