Patients registered with a number of GP practices across the Isle of Man will soon be able to access a new remote GP service, making it easier to get the care they need in a way that is convenient and appropriate for them.
Following a successful pilot at Ramsey Group Practice, participating GP surgeries in the east and west of the Island will begin introducing the service from 25 August 2026.
The service will offer telephone consultations with qualified GPs for patients whose health concerns are suitable to be managed remotely. When patients contact their practice, they will continue to be assessed through a triage process to ensure they are directed to the most appropriate type of appointment.
For many patients, particularly those who do not require a physical examination, a telephone consultation can provide quicker access to medical advice, medication reviews and ongoing support, without the need to attend the practice in person.
Remote consultations will be delivered by fully qualified General Practitioners through TekiHealth Solutions Limited, working alongside participating GP practices.
Patients are encouraged to provide as much information as possible about their symptoms or concerns when they contact their practice. This helps healthcare professionals assess what type of appointment is most suitable for their needs.
What patients can expect:
- Patients will continue to contact their GP practice in the usual way
- The information provided during the triage process will be used to decide the most appropriate type of appointment
- If suitable, patients may be offered a telephone consultation with a qualified GP
- Patients will be contacted at an agreed appointment time
- If a face-to-face examination or assessment is needed, an in-person appointment will be arranged through the practice
- Patients can still request an in-person appointment, although waiting times may vary depending on clinical need and availability
