Isle of Man Sport Celebration of Coaching

Recognising the work of volunteer sports coaches is the theme for a new event being promoted by Isle of Man Sport.

A Celebration of Coaching will take place at the Tea Junction on Saturday 8 September to honour the army of sports coaches who give up their time freely to provide unrivalled opportunities for the Island’s population to participate in sport.

Starting at 7pm, the evening will include a supper in the presence of special guest John Fletcher, the former long-standing coach to the England Rugby u18s squad.

John, or “Fletch” as he is affectionately known, has been instrumental in developing several young players who now feature regularly in the men’s national team.

Fletch will share inspirational stories from his coaching experiences and offer unique insights into his approach to coaching, which has helped the England junior set up thrive over the last decade.

To help showcase coaching best practice and the amazing pool of talent in the Island, Isle of Man Sport will be presenting an “Accolade for Innovation in Coaching”.

Nominations are currently being invited to highlight coaching initiatives that are having a positive impact on the sporting and wider local community.

To book a seat for the event on 8 September or to request a nomination form for the accolade, contact Trevor Christian on 688590 or email trevor.christian@gov.im.

Forms can also be found on the documents section of the Isle of Man Sport Coaches Forum on Facebook.

The celebration is the climax to the Isle of Man Sport Coaching Festival where coaches can book onto three exciting new workshops delivered by UK Coaching. Information about the festival and the courses, including how to book, are available at www.coachingfestival.eventbrite.co.uk
