Residents are invited to learn more about preparing for emergencies and some of the other challenges posed by Island life at the next Isle be Ready event, which will take place at Ramsey Town Hall on Thursday 22 October.
The free community event will bring together a range of emergency services and partner organisations, providing an opportunity to meet frontline teams and pick up practical advice on how to prepare for unexpected situations.
Part of the Department of Home Affairs’ ongoing resilience programme, Isle be Ready encourages individuals, families and businesses to think ahead and take simple steps that can help them cope with disruptions such as severe weather, power outages or travel delays.
Running from 11am to 3pm, the event is open to everyone and offers a chance to find out more about the support available before, during and after an emergency.
Emergency Planning Officer Jane Kelly MBE said:
‘Being prepared doesn’t need to be complicated, but a few simple actions can make a significant difference when everyday life is disrupted.
‘Isle be Ready gives people the opportunity to speak directly with the organisations involved in responding to emergencies and learn more about the practical measures they can take to help themselves, their families and their communities.’
The initiative forms part of wider efforts to strengthen community resilience across the Island and promote greater awareness of emergency preparedness.
No booking is required and visitors are welcome to attend at any time during the event.
