Competition Bill Consultation

The Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading is currently consulting on its Competition Bill.

It is intended that the Bill will replace Part 2 of the Fair Trading Act 1996.

The OFT undertook an initial consultation in July 2013 whenit was concluded that the Island’s competition legislation needs to be brought in line with modern international standards – most notably, Articles 101 and 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, with regards to anti-competitive practices and the abuse of a dominant market position.

The website includes a draft copy of the Competition Bill as well as a copy of the initial consultation.

The deadline for the consultation is 15 June 2018.
